SUPERNATURAL ARTIFACT
Artifact Name: Sibylline Ring
Appearance: A brass band that looks slightly aged and dinged in some very subtle places from general frequent wear. The band has two cat-like ears, symbolic of the 'Nine Lives' a cat has, that portrude around a jem in the center with the vague appearance of a cat's eye, that glows a subtle light orange from it's power. (Picture below)
Description: This ring grants the ability to live twice as long as a normal being and therefore slows aging by half. For example, a person who could perceivably live to about be 90-100 years old, would beable to live until they're about 180-200 with the ring since it is constantly repairing cells to keep you looking young and feeling healthy.
It can also grant some enhanced durability to physical damage and can slightly accelerate the healing of some injuries; note that it cannot heal just any or even all injuries of the physical nature not can it reverse critical/fatal ones. Something such as a small or average knife cut however, it could easily lessen the pain and make healing a little quicker, for an example. The greater the injury or other ailment of the physical nature, the more difficult it is for the ring to do its job on them. Slight immunity to some ailments such as poisons and toxins is another gift The ring provides, but note that this does not work on just any or even all of such things, only help lessen some and fight of lesser threatening ones. It is a powerful ring, but that doesn't mean it will make you invincible.
The long term side effects of this ring are damaging, however. In exchange for enhancing one's life, it steals away pieces of your soul as the very source of it's power. It stores third energy within, with the jem as indication of it's continued function. It almost appears as if it stores within the jem itself as the powerholder of the whole ring. Because the ring steals portions of your soul, the longer you wear it the less soul you'll have. What may this entail?
A) Taking the ring off at anytime it weakens the effects of the ring inducing accelerated aging that would otherwise be hindered by the ring; think of it like when you put a link in a hose, and as you unknink it, the water quickly begins to flow more and more. This aging cannot bereversed once the ring is put back on, the ring can only slow your biological clock it cannot miraculously restore youth. Do not be surprised if you start acting in ways you wouldn't normally, after all your soul is the part of you that makes you humane and moral. The more of it you lose, the less of that conscience you'll have.
B) If the ring is destroyed, whatever portion of your soul is now gone. You cannot get it back. You may ask, what if the ring has depleted all ofyour soul? No one knows, since it has yet to happen. No one knows if this means you die or if you simply lack a soul. The only sure assumption we could makeisyou will loose significant years, likely very quickly, of supressed youth upon the atrifact's destruction. If you do acquire this ring, it behooves oneself to protect the ring at all costs and never take it off if you can help it, because you may not want to find out what consequences await.
Manufacturer: A witch named Sebille created the Sibylline ring in 1963 after years of searching to find the right combination and build. The ring was hand crafted by herself, meaning that the brass band was blacksmithed, detailed, and buffed by hand. The jem used in the center was collected by herself, already possessed magical connection. She enchanted it further through numerous incantations and spells before being set into the ring band, to give it the eye-for-an-eye life preserving property. Runes were engraved along the inside of the band that provide the other perks of the ring such as the durability and immunity.
