James is able to "push" things with his mind. James channels the ability through his body movements, so he often times does hand gestures in order to move anything. He's learned how to enhance his fighting with his telekinesis by strengthening the power of his blows and helping him move more gracefully and quickly.
Level 2 - The Pusher is capable of moving large objects with their mind. Nothing larger than a refrigerator. They are deemed a moderate threat level and need close evaluation. Possibly unable to return to their lives, if medication no longer works.

STORY SO FAR
James was born in Detroit Michigan to a woman named Rebecca. To say he was born into a bad life is an understatement. The Martan family line goes back many generations in the state of Michigan. When the decline of the automobile business hit Detroit, many lost jobs for a variety of reasons. Jerald, Rebecca's father lost his job in the 60s when she was just a toddler. This made the family's life incredibly difficult, though they tried to tough it through. The city majorly declined over the years, and more and more were without jobs and lost their homes. Rebecca tried weed when she was 11 years old and then sometime in her teenage years she tried crack and heroin. She left home and lived on the streets, staying at crack houses and bandos. She began selling herself for money to support her habits, working the streets and panhandling to make extra money. This was her life for almost two decades before she got pregnant with one of her dates when she was 30 years old. After he was born, it was a miracle that the baby survived as his mother used the drugs while pregnant. This caused James to be dependent on the heroin like his mother was; he was an opioid baby. He was hospitalized and then medicated with medication that was gradually tapered off. James was taken from his mother.
James doesn't have many memories of his mother but he does have four. The four times he has ever seen the woman who gave him life. The first memory was when he was 8. It was his birthday, and she came to visit him. James didn't understand why he was stuck in a foster home if he had a mother who claimed to love him. She brought him a stuffed dalmatian with a firefighter helmet on it's head. It's a lot dirtier now than it was back then. After that visit, he started talking to his mom a lot on the phone. He went from home to home.
The second time James ever seen his mother was when she picked him up from his school when it let out. He was so ecstatic! She told him he was finally going to come live with her and James was so happy. Of course he didn't realize Rebecca didn't even have a home, not that it would matter to a 10 year old. She took him to some crummy motel that his mom managed to pay for. It was unusual for her, but after making a large amount of money from a wealthy date she could manage it. In her drugged daze she was in, Rebecca truly believed she could support her child. She'd take care of him, and already had a motel. She wasn't thinking right, that the room would continue to take money and she wouldn't be able to keep up with it, along with affording her addiction. It didn't take long for the motel room to get surrounded by police. James spent 3 hours, 7 minutes, and 32 seconds with his mom. He counted. It goes without saying, Rebecca lost all rights to visitation to James and wasn't allowed to even talk to him. James always dreamed that his mom would one day come and rescue him; that they'd start their life together.
The third time James ever seen his mother was when he was 16. He was always a troubled teen, he got mixed up in a lot of delinquent activities. Nothing ever scared him; he started participating in underground fighting, stealing, drugs, drinking, smoking, and was close to getting mixed up in a gang. He never knew what happened to his mother, until he was out on the street while staying out late one night. There were a group of women, standing around and talking. They didn't look clean, all very skinny, but they were all standing on the side of the street. James was on his way to meet up with a guy named Darius in order to find out about joining the local gang. His plans changed when he recognized one of the women on the street. "Mom?" It was her, Rebecca, or what the other girls called her - Becky. She was embarrassed, happy, and disappointed all in one. She and the other girls grilled James, asking him why he was out there so late. The area they were in, they knew it meant nothing but trouble. Rebecca pulled James away and they talked for hours. She told him she didn't want this life for him. That she made bad decisions but he didn't have to. She made him promise to graduate school and do something great like go to college or get a job; something she didn't do. James asked his mother about the stuffed animal, why she chose to give him that out of everything. Rebecca told him that his grandparents had died in a house fire after she left home to live on the street. She said that when she pictured the perfect life for her son it was as a firefighter. Something that would provide for him, where he'd be a hero, and something that would mean a lot because it was how she lost her parents. Their heart to heart changed James, he never met with that man and he continued through school.
James tried to find his mother multiple times after that, but he could never track her down. Hard to find someone who is homeless without a phone or anything. He found other girls, and they said they'd let her know that he was looking for her. When graduation came along, he found one of the girls he originally met the night he found his mother. He told her to tell his mom that he would meet her in that same spot, wanting to show her his certificate after graduation. After he graduated, he went to the spot but she wasn't there. He stayed for hours and that's when he saw the same girl he talked to before... With tear filled eyes she broke the news to James. Someone murdered his mother and left her body in the road. He couldn't believe it. The 18 year old ran off into a park nearby. The young man fell to his knees, eyes filled with tears as he let out a deafening scream and a wave of telekinetic energy shot off from him. His eyes widened as he tried to figure out what the hell just happened. What was that? What was he? And the only person who could've answered that question was dead. James went to the morgue and identified her body. That was the fourth and last time he would ever see his mother. No money for a funeral, her body was cremated. James has a very tiny bottle with her ashes in it, that he wears around his neck on a silver chain.
He was going to make his mother proud. First step was getting out of Detroit; moving to Crawford City in Massachusetts. Another foster kid who graduated a year before moved out there so James found it as good of place as any. He went to college in the city and lived on campus. James began practicing with his abilities, learning to control them and push them more and more. Anger began to consume James, and he was lashing out at the people he cared about. So he began to fight in the underground rings; using it as a form of therapy in order to vent out his rage and he's been doing it ever since. It was in these underground rings that he met Mr. Zimmerman. While the older man watched James, he noticed his movements and recognized the young man was using telekinesis. He confronted him, and James tried to play it off. Well, that was until Mr. Zimmerman showed that he also could move things with his mind. They were called Pushers, at least that's what he told James. He offered to help teach him; if he helped him create a safe haven for people like them. James wasn't really interested at first, but learning more about his powers was definitely something that he wanted to do. So he became Mr. Zimmerman's apprentice and the rest is history.
Over the years, James eventually would finish college and become a firefighter paramedic. His medical knowledge was a big help in the Safe Haven, as many were injured and sick. They moved locations regularly until finding a series of large factory buildings, and one that had deeper levels that were perfect for hiding people; along with secret corridors. Mr. Zimmerman bought the property as he was one of the wealthier citizens of Crawford. The SIA, or Supernatural Intel Agency, found out about the older man's abilities when he was caught on camera using them. They went after him, but of course Mr. Zimmerman did not want to go with them willingly and a fight broke out. James' mentor was the most powerful that a Pusher could be and because of that the SIA saw him as a big threat. They killed the old man; making them an enemy to the Safe Haven. Upon finding out what happened, James vowed to bring down the SIA and kill whoever killed the only man who ever came close to being a father to him. Mr. Zimmerman left him the property and his fortune in his will; which James only uses for the Safe Haven's purpose, as he became the leader after. It's been a few years since his death.
More recently, James was one of the firefighters who were sent to the mines in between Willow Creek and Crawford City after they collapsed. Unbeknownst to the miners, the strange earthquake back in February had left at least one of the mines structurally unsafe, and it had collapsed. He is on a team with both his best friend Calum who he met through the station and friend Kennedy. The team worked to save miners who were trapped in the tunnels, having to move rubble and turn off any electric or gas lines that could cause a fire. While in the mines; James was alongside both Kennedy and Calum. The three were sent in by their captain, a very dangerous position. James stopped to help an injured woman who was impaled by her pickaxe. Kennedy volunteered to go on when a voice called out for help, Calum planned to go but he decided he'd let her do it. After she went farther to help whoever it was that was down there, the mines shook again and caved in. A wall of rocks split Kennedy from her team. The crew moved as quick as they could to dig them out, but it wasn't the easiest thing to do as they had to be safe while moving it. They knew Kennedy had an oxygen tank, that's why it shocked James to see the man had it on and was safe with an unconscious Kennedy.
James and Calum were the two to drag Kennedy out of the mines. James checked her vitals, finding that she had no pulse. In a dripping sweat he worked hard to resuscitate her. Everyone watched around, saddened and worried. When it was obvious that she was gone, their captain tried to pull him away as an emotional James shouted no. He kept doing compressions, and breathing into her mouth. Tears stung his eyes as he kept at it with determination. She should've been long dead... But suddenly when he felt for a pulse for the 20th time, there was one. His eyes widened. "I GOT A PULSE!" James shouted and the EMT quickly took her aboard, continuing treatment and taking her to the hospital where she was in a coma until now.
