SUPERNATURAL GIFTS
Healers are the individuals who are able to heal other living being's injuries. They are a rare type of psychic, who the SIA find very valuable. They are able to speed up the healing process of another living being's body and the process is extremely painful for whoever undergoes it. Typically a Healer's power comes from their hands but some may do so by other means. Sadness is a big trigger for this power, many of the psychics first developing it during moments of great grief. A Healer's ability typically develops between sometime after the age of 12.
Holly is a Level 1 healer and is able to heal non fatal wounds.
STORY SO FAR
'Be the change you want to see in the world' is definitely Holly's motto. She is a kind, gentle, charitable person who is desperate to make the world a better place. She is an environmentalist and an animal rights activist. Holly doesn't have a selfish bone in her body. She would give someone the last bit of food even if she were starving, or give someone the shirt off her back even if it meant she would freeze to death herself. She loves to be outside and enjoys being around other people. She likes making other people smile and feels like even the simplest of polite gestures can go a long way. Holly absolutely hates violence of any sort.
So it would come as no surprise that she protested her heart out when her older brother, Joel, had decided to join the US Marine Corp. Growing up, she and Joel were quite close, especially since the death of their mom in a terrorist bombing about five years ago while on the job as an on-the-scene reporter. This tragic incident affected Holly and Joel in completely different ways. While it drove Holly to become more sheltered and fearful, it was a wake up call for her brother that he needed to do his part to make the world a safe place by taking more direct action.
Once Joel enlisted and eventually left home, it was just Holly and her father, who she spent a good majority of her free time with. Her mother's death had been extremely hard on him and now, with her brother gone, she was very worried about his health and mental state. It took some convincing from her dad for Holly to pursue her dream career as a veterinarian, which was something she had a great passion for ever since discovering her ability to heal when she was fourteen. She had been sitting on the front porch of her home, chatting on the phone with a friend when she noticed a rabbit that had been caught in the fence and was struggling to get free. Holly quickly ended the phone call and rushed over to help the poor animal. She talked to it soothingly as she carefully worked the wire free from its fur and in doing so, she noticed that it had received a nasty gash across its back. To her surprise, the rabbit allowed her to scoop it up and as she gently stroked its fur and attempted to comfort it, a soft white light emitted from her palm, pulsing brightly for a moment before fading away. Holly was stunned to see that the wound was completely gone, and she held the rabbit for a minute or so longer before gently setting it in the grass and watching it bound away.
Ever since, Holly has had a passion for animals and their well-being. She is now working as an assistant to the town's veterinarian while taking evening classes in Crawford to pursue her own degree. She had been writing her brother back and forth throughout his military career, at least, that is, until the horrific day came that she and her father were told that Joel had been killed in action. The funeral was just last week, and Holly feels like her life will never be the same.
