STORY SO FAR
Emma was always destined for greatness. At least, that's what her mother always told her. Her parents weren't the most affluent in Willow Creek or Crawford City, but they were very comfortable. Being the only child, she was horribly spoiled. Everything she ever wanted was given to her. And she was a very pretty girl. Kids would flock to her growing up and it wasn't difficult to make friends. Admittedly, she never needed them. When the other kids stopped being useful, she stopped talking to them. But it didn't matter if she hurt them. There were always more waiting to give her what she wanted.
As she got older, she became more talented with being warm and sweet to people, letting everyone think she was a wonderful person. Admittedly, she wasn't bad to the core. She was just horribly spoiled and it spoiled her very deeply as a person. Others were stepping stones to her goal. She would use whoever she could to be the top of her class, get the best merits, whatever it took to be number one. It was about middle school she found herself enthralled with the fashion magazines. The beautiful photographs enthralled her. But it wasn't the models she admired. It was the fame that came with being the photographers. Familiar names continued to crop up and the more she looked into it, the more that famous photographers were on par with the celebs she would watch in awe on TV. She knew what she wanted to do.
After a lot of pleading, Emma got her parents convinced to get her a camera and off she went with taking pictures. At first, it was difficult and she was distraught. Angry with herself, she continued to push. Harder and harder. Nothing was good enough. She spent every moment she could spare studying photography and how to get the best angles, lighting and everything. She was determined to be a famous photographer. And come hell or high water, she would have it.
Soon, her drive paid off and her photography skills shot through the roof. She didn't hesitate after high school to go to college to continue her drive to her goal. It was here that she met the handsome and charming Andy Sullivan. Not only was he good looking and sweet, but he was affluent and came from a good family. And he was enthralled with her. It couldn't have worked out better. He was the perfect potential partner and her parents certainly approved. And being on the arm of the affluent Sullivan boy wasn't hurting things either. While she never did love him, she went through the motions with him. He was none the wiser of her manipulations and for a few years, it worked out beautifully.
Until a few days before they were set to get married. She couldn't go through with it. She didn't love Andy, nor did she really want to get married. She was young and had a whole future in front of her. She couldn't let her opportunity go. While he was great for the years they were together, he wasn't good enough for her. Not for the future she had planned for herself. So, after pleading to her mother for help, she vanished, leaving Andy to panic. As she began to prepare herself for a new life, a Facebook post cropped up. She was mortified at the missing persons poster. That could ruin everything she was doing! She quickly commented on there that she didn't want to see him or marry him or hear from him again and to remove it. And then she quickly eliminated him from her life.
Her parents scolded her for almost letting such a boy become part of their family and she took her lumps, using that desperate energy to focus on her career. That golden star kept hovering above her head and she began to work harder and harder. She wouldn't let another inferior relationship interfere with her goals. Not again.
