SUPERNATURAL GIFTS
Speakers are the individuals who are able to perceive and communicate with the dead. Spirits usually have one of two reactions to a Speaker, either running away from them or being drawn to them. It highly depends on the spirit itself. A Speaker has strong energy and they are able to either soothe a spirit or cause them great discomfort. How a Speaker communicates with the world of the dead differs from one to another while some may hear the dead, another may only see them or have visions tied to the ghosts when they try to communicate with them. Other Speakers may see the dead in their dreams. A Speaker's ability typically develops while they are a baby or toddler.
◆ Level 1 - The Speaker is able to see or hear(or both) spirits. They are deemed safe to return to their normal lives by the SIA if on medication. Evan can both see and hear spirits, but only is he is drunk or otherwise high.

STORY SO FAR
Evan had a modest upbringing, with nothing too spectacular occurring in his youth. Born to a single mom who worked as an editor at a magazine company, he grew up immersed in a world of writing. Once he reached highschool, Evan began to try his own hand at writing stories, but always felt stumped when it came to putting words to paper. Then, one day, he was out with some buddies after school and got offered some weed. Always one for adventure, Evan accepted. Once he got buzzed, he realized he could hear someone talking to him. Someone he couldn't see. And in his current drugged state he thought it was just a voice in his head. The more he spoke with it the more it told him things. A story. He wrote it down as soon as he could, and once he was sober again he felt it was the best piece he had ever written. It was then he realized that he had found his muse.
More and more Evan began to experiment with drugs, and alcohol. Gradually moving onto harder stuff when the light ones no longer gave him the same buzz. And as he did more, gradually images of people began to accompany the voices he could talk to. Unfortunately this thirst for the stories gave him quite a bad drug and alcohol addiction, something he still struggles with to this day. What Evan fails to realize however, is that the "muses" he sees when he's high are actually the ghosts of deceased beings. And His stories? Just re-tellings of their life and death, with some added flair. While he works on getting his writing to take off, Evan works various part time jobs. He never really manages to hold any one job down for long as his addictions usually result in him being fired.
Evan spent a lot of his time hanging out at gay bars, looking for the latest hit of booze, drugs, and sex. He'd always been one for one night stands with cute guys, and never really thought about settling down. But one night, when he was 24, he spied a cute guy looking real nervous at a table. He sat across from him and struck up conversation, which after several hours at the bar became a long conversation in Daxton's dorm room. Normally he'd have been gone in the morning, but something about Daxton drew him in and kept Evan there. He stopped hanging out at the bars and instead began to see Daxton exclusively. Gradually it turned to real dating for a few years, then just a year ago they finally moved in together. Evan had never been happier.
However, with the move came problems, in that the drug and alcohol addiction he has was something he could no longer fully hide from Daxton. It's caused some strain to their relationship, and Evan keeps promising he'll quit. But it's just so hard for him to give up his drugs when he gets such an amazing muse with it. He doesn't believe in his abilities without the drugs, though perhaps one day he'll see he can write amazing stories of his own making without unknowingly piggybacking on the tragic life stories of the ghosts he speaks to. Currently the only genuine character of his creation is a detective in his stories that is a recurring character, based on Daxton. Despite the strain, Evan loves Daxton dearly and wants to be there for him in any way that he can be, as he is able.
Evan is an incredibly adventurous, albeit extremely impulsive, individual. He is a bold man who feels little hesitation in going for what he wants, with at times little regard for the consequences. He has been trying to work on being more mindful of this since dating Daxton, but he finds it hard. He is quite flirtatious and isn't embarrassed to show his affection in public. Evan unfortunately is a bit of a flake, and can frequently break promises or tap out of engagements on the fly without warning. Evan loves being comfortable, and this translates to him often having a sloppy or messy appearance as he throws whatever he wants on for the day and often goes a couple weeks without shaving. It's made worst when he's in the middle of writing and is on a bender. And he's not the most fond of being organised, so the mess extends to his office as well. While he seems like someone who can't always remain focused on any one task and likely has a touch of ADD, Evan will always be completely absorbed when writing a story inspired by his latest ghostly vision, or when Daxton is speaking to him.
